Author Dominic Murgido has written his first fiction book, Getting to Know You: Discovering First Love in the Seventies.
This is a story that takes place decades ago, when everyday life was lived in the present and you talked with one another in person, not through a screen. Life was simple, less stressful, and at times more meaningful.

There’s a first time for everything. First car. First time at college. First kiss.
Two high school graduates attend college while searching for who they really are at the beginning of their adult lives. Along with doubt, uncertainty, and a desire to grow, they seek out friendship and meaning for their future while exploring all their options, which may include each other.
Getting To Know You is a story about a relationship in the seventies and the discovery of first love between a couple on a small college campus. They wrote letters to each other in cursive, shared stories on landline and pay phones, and used typewriters for their college term papers. Life was simple, less stressful, and at times more meaningful.
They take walks, share thoughts, explore their surroundings, and ask questions. Is a college education the only thing they achieve? Getting To Know You: Discovering First Love in the Seventies is about their humble beginnings.

My first love was in the seventies along with all the uncertainty and anxiety that it brings. Then add the culture at the time to the mix and you have something special.
I needed to go light and fun after writing three books about my personal grief journey. I wanted to honor a first love and share the challenges, uncertainty, and thoughts between two people discovering love on a college campus.
I came across a box in storage labeled memories. Upon opening, it was a treasure trove of mementos from college days and many hand-written letters between my wife to be and me. I wanted to pay homage to that happy place in our lives.
Everybody loves a sunset. Your attention is drawn to the middle of the cover where there is a white-hot spherical sun shining through a couple moments before a kiss. The brightness of the sun displays a ring around the ball of fire and shines so brightly that it encompasses part of the couple’s bodies forming an almost circular afterglow. A great example of first love.
